Thoughts on opponent, Randy Couture? It will be an honor and a privilege to fight a living legend like Randy Couture. He has been someone that I have looked up to and I can't wait to get in there in November. Even after my first UFC win back in 2005, I was begging the UFC to put me in with a legend like a Chuck Liddell or a Randy Couture. I always knew those are the sorts of guys who would bring the best out of me and, finally, I have my chance to prove myself against a true legend in the sport.
When and why did you start training for fighting? I trained at the Olympic Training Center and saw a lot of fighters come through there, Randy, Matt, Dan, Mike V, after the 2000 Olympic year. I took a couple of years off from training or doing anything. I started to watch the MMA shows, saw Randy beating up everyone. I was like “hey I can do that”. So, I started training.
What ranks and titles have you held? I’m a 2x Pan-American Champion, Abu-Dhabi veteran, 8x Grapplers Quest Champion, W.K.A. Muay Thai National champion, Lloyd Irvin Brown Belt.
Do you have any heroes? The Incredible Hulk.
What is your favorite technique? Flying Yoga Wrist Lock
What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? That I’ve stayed the path, all my decisions have been correct. It’s finally MY time to shine.
Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? Old Dominion University, still working on my Degree.
What was your job before you started fighting? I was in the Military. USAF.
